Volleyball Finishes 6th at Cara Bryant Tournament

The Spartan's Volleyball team travelled to OCC for the Cara Bryant Tournament. Friday's matches were against OCC and Northampton CC. The evening opened with OCC, and the team was ready this time, fighting the home team for every point but falling in 2 games by scores of 25-22 and 25-18. To wrap up the day's play, the Lady Spartans faced Northampton. The team came out slow and was a little too intimidated by their firepower and fell 25-12. With a few minutes to regroup, the team played much better and held a lead late but still fell 25-22. Saturday opened with a rematch with Monroe Community College. For the team this was the most exciting match of the tourney, fighting hard they fell in the first game 25-22, fought their way to a 25-19 win. The third and deciding game started poorly as the team fell behind 4-0 and were never able to climb out of the hole and fell 15-10. To end the day, a match with Jefferson CC. Again, the team showed up ready to play, but fell in 2 25-22 and 25-12. Finishing tied for 6th place the team missed the playoff round by point total.

Some of the stars for the tournament, Emily Klock (Jordan-Elbridge, NY) continued her outstanding play with 17 kills, getting voted to the all-tournament team. Erin Brahney-Taro (Weedsport, NY) played some outstanding defense with 36 digs, and Gabby Bell (Syracuse, NY) with 69 digs on the day.
