Cayuga Women Split Games Up North

The Spartan women's basketball team split their weekend road trip by getting a win at Clinton on Saturday, while dropping their game at North Country on Sunday. Cayuga jumped right out on top scoring 31 points in the game's first quarter of play. In Saturday's win at Clinton…freshmen forward Loren Clifford (East Syracuse, NY) scored a team-high 20 points and had 9 rebounds. Freshman guard Jasmine Walker (Rochester, NY) added 17 points. Gabby Bell (Syracuse, NY) added 12 points and Erica Helzer (Port Byron, NY) had 8 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Emily Klock (Jordan, NY) also had 8 points and 8 rebounds on the afternoon.

The following afternoon the Lady Spartans ran into a tough North Country squad…and played tough for the opening half…before finally falling 85-54. Dontasia Britt (Bronx, NY) had a team-high 13 points and 11 rebounds. Loren Clifford was solid again in the post scoring 11 points and collecting 11 rebounds. Erica Helzer chipped in with 8 points.

The team returns home this Saturday 12/9 with their 4-4 record to face nationally-ranked Mohawk Valley with a 1pm tip in Spartan Hall.
