Cayuga Community College Men's Basketball completed a season sweep of Onondaga Community College in a thrilling home win on Saturday.

Cayuga's Desean Strachan hit a jumper to break a 75-75 tie with 18 seconds remaining, then hit a free throw later to give Cayuga a 78-76 win. The Spartans defeated the Lazers 74-63 earlier this season.

Cayuga held a small lead for much of a competitive first half, with Strachan and forward Tony Borges combining for 22 points in the frame. The Lazers knotted the score at 34 with four minutes remaining, and the teams entered the break tied at 39.

The Spartans started the second half on an 11-4 run and led for much of the half before three straight three-pointers put the Lazers in front 74-71. Cayuga trailed by two before guard Donald Grant sank two free throws to tie the game at 75 with 58 seconds left.

After Strachan's jumper in the paint put the Spartans in front 77-75, the Lazers hit one of two free throws with seconds left to make it 77-76. Strachan sank the final free throw with less than three seconds remaining.

Strachan finished with 21 points, Grant added 17, and Borges finished with 16 points and 16 rebounds.

The Spartans are on the road Sunday, January 21, at Corning Community College. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
