A slow offensive game hurt Cayuga Community College Men's Basketball in a road loss to Clinton Community College on Saturday.

The Spartans stayed close early thanks to a good defensive effort but struggled from the field against the Cougars, losing 69-57.

Both teams started slow on the offensive end, with the Spartans trailing by just two halfway through the first half. However, the Cougars went on a 16-8 run in the final 10 minutes and led 36-26 at halftime.

Clinton led by double-digits for much of the second half. The Spartans cut the lead to single digits several times in the final 10 minutes but were unable to catch the Cougars.

The loss drops Cayuga to 2-17 on the season and 2-14 in Region III competition. Cayuga remains on the road Sunday, February 4, at North Country Community College. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
