Spartans Lose at Home

Cayuga Community College Men's Basketball suffered a home defeat to Erie Community College on Saturday.

In their final home game in the first half of their schedule, the Spartans struggled on the offensive end and lost 76-51 to the Kats. Cayuga is now 2-6 on the season.

Cayuga had trouble getting their offense going in the first half and trailed 36-23 at the break. In the second half, Erie increased their lead to 20 before a Spartans rally, highlighted by a three-pointer by Rian Hall, cut the Kats' lead to 10. That was as close as the Spartans came to completing a comeback, though, as Erie pulled away in the final 10 minutes for the win.

Wylik Coleman was the Spartans' top scorer for the game with 16 points and had four rebounds and four assists. Tony Borges had nine points and a team-high 11 rebounds, and Christian Gomez and Solomon Mitchell had six points each. Gomez also had three assists and Mitchell had five rebounds.

Cayuga's next game is a road contest at Hudson Valley Community College on Saturday, Dec. 7. Tipoff is 3 p.m.
