Fricano Heads to Nationals

Simon Fricano (Union Springs, NY) finished 6th in the individual standings after Monroe CC and Jamestown CC captured the top two team spots at this afternoon's final round of the NJCAA Region III Golf Tournament.  With his top 10 finish, Fricano is now on his way to the NJCAA National Tournament, June 4th-7th, hosted by Jamestown CC at Chatauqua Country Club.

"Simon has been our most consistent golfer throughout the spring and really had to grind out a total score of 167 against some of the best junior college golfers in the nation over the course of the past two days," said Coach Renaud.  "It is a great achievement to be one of the final 50 golfers left competing for the individual trophy and all american status, and Simon's demeanor and approach to the game, combined with his course management skills, put him in place to be a contender the first week of June."

Coach Renaud went on to add, "I enjoyed my first season directing the lads this spring, and we had some great team bonding moments over the course of our tournament play and to take a full team to the regional tournament is nice way to end the team's season.  I want to thank all the guys and Coach Mosley for their patience and persistence throughout the season, including Ryan's (Killian) team cheer, which we hope will carry on as a tradition going forward."
