Day Two: Fricano Improves By 3 Strokes at National Tournament

Simon Fricano (Union Springs, NY) improved on his first round score this afternoon and posted a 79 on day two of the NJCAA National Golf Tournament.  At the time of this report, final scores for the entire field were still unknown, so his order of standing after the second round is still to be determined.

Fricano finished the front nine at 3 over and the back nine at 4 over.  "After the round he felt pretty good about his play, but as usual with any golfer, at any ability, Simon felt as though he left 3 or 4 more strokes out there, just as was the case yesterday," said Coach Renaud.  "The underlying factor is he familiarity and comfort on the course led to the lower score, and as I stated yesterday, his mental game can see him go even lower in the third and fourth rounds."

Coach Renaud noted the early scores reflected a number of golfers who went lower than Simon  yesterday, posted higher scores today, so it is Cayuga's hope he moves up the scoreboard heading into tomorrow.  With the elements looking less than favorable for the next two rounds, staying consistent and posting 70's in the final two rounds is Fricano's goal.
