Spatans End the Season With a Loss

The Spartan Men's soccer team ended the 2012 season with a hard fought loss to Niagara County Community College. With a 4-0 loss the Spartans finished the season with a disappointing record of 3-11-1 which includes an ongoing 7 game losing streak.

Niagara (3-11-2) were pushed back into their own half for most of the first half where Will Backhouse (Swinton, England) and Muke Heri (Syracuse, NY) failed to find the back of the net.  Jason Boxx (Brentford, England) drove two speculative shots towards the goal but failed to challenge the Niagara goalkeeper.  As the chances to score drifted away, Niagara came into the game and took the lead late in the half and added a second just before half time.  In the second half the stronger bench of Niagara continued to press the Spartans defense and then added two more goals.
Coach Wynne was diplomatic in the loss to end the season. "This year has been a slight disappointment considering the improvements the team made last season.  We will get back to basics in the off season and hope that our senior starters can be replaced by a strong freshman class."
