Men’s Soccer Starts Season 2-0

Auburn N.Y. - Cayuga Men's Soccer team took to Emerson Park to face regional competitor Clinton Community College. With the whistle starting play, both teams got straight into the game and worked both offensively and defensively in an attempt to take control of the game. Chris Davison (Newcastle, England) worked effortlessly on the field with several shots in the opening twenty minutes of play. The Clinton keeper was equal to the task and pulled off some fantastic saves to keep it tied 0-0 at half time.

With second half of play underway, Cayuga stepped up early with shots from Paul McCormick (Glasgow, Scotland), Chris Davison and Sean Richards (Cardiff, Wales) to test the Clinton keeper with some of them coming very close to hitting the back of the net. In the 64th minute of play, Davison pick up a pass from midfield and dribbled down the left wing to cross the ball to the awaiting Sean Richards, who settled his first touch control on his chest before volleying it in to the top left corner of the Clinton goal to put the Spartans up 1-0. The score line remained 1-0 when the final whistle sounded, and the Spartans moved to 2-0 for the opening weekend of the season.

Coach Wynne had this to say, "I thought we played very well, even though it could of went either way, but I'm glad we came away with a win after playing a tough Clinton side. We just got to put this win under our belts and move onto Onondaga on Wednesday"

The Spartans face the Lazers on Wednesday at 6:45pm on the Onondaga CC campus.
