Lady Spartans Struggle Against a Tough Corning Team

The Lady Spartans struggled both games as they faced a great hitting Corning team losing 12-3 in 6 innings and then losing 8-0 in 5 innings.  Stefanie Mitchell (Onondaga, NY) started the first game but had to be relieved by Jamison Valentino (Union Springs, NY) due to an injury.  With Valentino on the mound the Spartans defense was a bit scattered and multiple girls were forced to play out of position.  Before getting hurt Mitchell had gone 1-2 with a homerun and 2 RBIs.  Valentino finished out the first game only having to pitch 1.2 innings.  The next game with Valentino on the mound she pitched a fantastic game however due to defensive switches the Spartans found themselves with 5 errors, and were unable to hit the ball on offensive to even give themselves a chance.  The Spartans look to play Wednesday against #2 ranked Herkimer at Herman Field.
