Despite playing with great effort the Cayuga Lady Spartans could not overcome the horrendous shooting night and dropped their season opener 57-40 at Herkimer. Najhea Thompson (Syracuse, NY) led the Spartans with 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals, while Lakin Mueller (Central Square, NY) scored 10 points, pulled down 9 boards, and had 4 assists. Cayuga will look to break into the win column when they play host to Hudson Valley on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
