Spartan Men Finish 3rd While Lady Spartans Finish in the Middle of the Pack

The Cayuga Spartans had a successful tournament this weekend at Mardi Bob Lanes in Poughkeepsie finishing 3rd out of 16 mens teams mostly from the new York city and New Jersey area. The finish move the nationally ranked Spartans to a 24-4 on the season. Cayuga came in as the defending champs and were in 2nd place through the qualifying segment of the tourney and had a slow start in the baker format which moved them into 3rd for the event.The team was led by Bernie Cecchini and Sodus standout Kyle Wren as they finished 3rd and 4th respectively in the all events portion of the tournament which placed them on the tournaments all tournament team. Individual scores in the doubles were Led by Cecchini with 666 and Ryan Zbikowski 642. In the singles Wren fired a 657 while Justin Ingram pulled out 634 series. These scores were outstanding as the 100 plus collegiate bowlers struggled on the very tough 45 foot pattern.

         The Spartan women struggled but ground out a middle of the pack finish led by freshman Mynderse academy standout Deanne Connolly's 2 nd place finish in the singles.Also cracking the 500 mark were Beth Piston and Team Captain Mary Townley.
