Spartans Defeat Raiders
Freshman Ashley Martin scored her first collegiate goal in the 33rd minute of the first half after beating a defender, cutting the ball back and finishing far post with her left foot. Luckily for the Spartans the Raiders missed a penalty kick opportunity to keep the score 1-0 at halftime.
In the first minute and forty five seconds of the second half Martin netted her second goal of the game after receiving a great pass from freshman Meghan Hungerford. Freshman goalkeeper Kiera Browne completed another solid game in goal for the Spartans. The Raiders were able to get on the board with 13:16 left in the second half, Cheyenne Guisti was able to score from in close after the Spartans were not able to clear the ball from the box. Sophomore Maria Faiola and freshman Morgan Clancy played a fantastic game on defense for the Spartans.
The Spartans travel to Tompkins-Cortland Community College on Thursday, September 29th in a 3:00 p.m. contest.
