Spartans Comeback Bid vs. Erie Falls Short
Despite being down 4-0 at the half… the Spartans Women's Soccer Team did not quit. One minute and forty five seconds into the second half Tia Segretto scored her first of five goals in the match on an assist by Ashley Martin. Two minutes later the Spartans scored again in similar fashion with an assist by Martin and goal by Segretto. At the 34th minute mark CCC was given a penalty kick after Segretto was tripped in the box. Segretto netted the PK for a hat trick, but wasn't done scoring. The Spartans fourth goal came with 17:13 left in the second half on a pass from Kiera Browne to Segretto who drove it low past the keeper. The Spartans continued to apply pressure and were able to get one final goal with 5:15 left in the game again on an assist from Martin to Segretto. Unfortunately Erie CC was able to score two goals in the second half one of which was also a penalty kick. The final score was 6-5 in favor of Erie.
Cayuga was outshot 21-13 and took 3 corners to Erie's 4.
The Spartans return to action Saturday when they travel to Delhi for a 1:00pm kickoff.
