Lady Spartan Win Close One at FLCC

Lady Spartan Win Close One at FLCC

The Cayuga Lady Spartan traveled to Finger Lakes Community college on Saturday and picked up their first road win in dramatic fashion. While the Lakers possessed the ball for most of the game, the strong Cayuga defense held strong and did not allow a clear look to goal. Both teams went into the half scoreless.

The second half started with a few quick chances for the Lakers before Cayuga's defensive got organized and held back the Lakers' aggressive attack.  Cayuga's only chance in the second half came off a goal kick as the FLCC player received the ball from the kick Sophomore Madison Robillard (Fulton, NY) stole the ball off the FLCC player and battled two other Lakers before slotting home the prefect corner shot for the goal. The lady Spartans held off wave after wave of Lakers' attacks before the final whistle blew and the 1-0 win.

Coach Robillard has this to say about the game, "Today was an amazing win for the ladies. They battled hard and played as a full, collective machine. I would list the stars of the game but every one of the ladies played with heart and soul from the first whistle to the last. These are the games that as a coach you will remember your whole career. I am so very thankful to the ladies for their effort today. Games like these are the reason why we coach and the reason why we love this game"

Bre Becker had 17 saves and her 3 shutout of the season
