First Win Comes Up Just Short at Clinton in 4-3 Loss

The Lady Spartans traveled again today, taking on Clinton Community College in their 3rd game of Region III play. Cayuga started the game with an offensive fury scoring within the first 5 minutes of the game. Michaela Breeze (Auburn, NY) picked up an amazing pass from Martha Caster (Fulton, NY) in the midfield and slid one past the onrushing Clinton goalkeeper. Cayuga's offensive dominance continued to get stronger and stronger in the first and ten minutes later Duanna Johnson (Auburn, NY) was able to score after a goalie rebound to net her second of the season and the Lady Spartan's second of the game. Then the tides turned for Cayuga. The Clinton offense woke up and in the last 11 minutes of the half put three goals past a stunned Spartan defense to end the first half down 3 to 2.

Cayuga's second half continued to produce many offensive chances shot just missing the equalizer from Haylie Pysnack (Auburn, NY) and Michaela Breeze. Breeze did net her 4th of the season on a perfect free kick to fly over the Clinton wall in into the open side net tying the game at 3 a side. Clinton was able to find the game winner after a set of corners kicks allowed a goal in the dying minutes of the game.

Goalkeeper Cheyenne Rivenburg (Little Falls, NY) had another stellar showing with 16 saves.

Coach Robillard had this to say about his team, "I am very happy with the team's performance this weekend and our ability to take advantage of our scoring opportunities. We had another game where the score line isn't reflective of the ladies' play on the pitch. It's a bit unsettling but I know this team has a winning streak in them."
