Women’s Soccer Works Hard, But Loses in the Heat

The Lady Spartans went on the road to play North Country Community College for a Region III match up and fell short losing in the heat 5 to 1.

Cayuga started the game on the defensive as the North Country attack was strong and endless. Cayuga held strong and was able to hold back the attacking Lady Saints. Offensively, Cayuga struggled getting the ball out of their end to freshman standout Michaela Breeze (Auburn, NY). North Country's attack was too strong and Cayuga gave up two first half goals. But the Lady Spartans were not to be denied when Duanna Johnson (Auburn, NY), blasted an amazing shot outside the box over the goalie's head to move within one of the Lady Saints before the half.

During the second half Cayuga continued to struggle with North Country's attack and with little scoring chances the Lady Spartans were unable to find an early equalizer. After a few second half chances from Captain Brooke Laukaitis (Auburn, NY) who finished with three shots…the Lady Saints netted three more second half goals.

Goalkeeper Cheyenne Rivenburg (Little Falls, NY) had a good game with 21 saves.
