Spartan Volleyball Victorious in Home Opener
The Lady Spartans defeated Davis College this evening in their 2014 home opener in front of a full house. Despite dropping the first set to a slow start, the Spartans gained their momentum in the second set and never let go. The Lady Spartans have boasted some of the best stats across the board so far this season.
Stat leaders for the evening include Ashley Jackowski (Chittenango, NY), Lexi Tucker (Union Springs, NY), Kiana Jones (Port Byron, NY), Jadda Phillips (Syracuse, NY), and Heather Thompson (Solvay, NY). Jackowski came out strong with 15 kills, one ace, and 3 solo blocks. On defense, Jones and Tucker put up a combined 31 digs. Jones also posted 30 tough serves which resulted in 4 consecutive aces in the third set. Phillips, who was currently 2nd in the Region in assists will add another 36 to her total. Finally, Thompson added another 13 kills and 3 service aces.
The Spartans travel to Broome this Saturday to face off against Broome, TC3, and Delhi in their first Region 3 POD match of the season.
