Spartans Take 2 at Hudson Valley POD

Today the Spartans traveled to Hudson Valley Community College where they faced off against Columbia Green, Hudson Valley, and Adirondack Community Colleges. The Spartans started off the day strong against Columbia Green and Hudson Valley taking both matches 3-0. Early stat leaders were Nyasha Terry (Brooklyn, NY), Valerie Froeming (Alturas, CA), Kiana Jones (Port Byron, NY), and Tanasia Green (Syracuse, NY). Terry finished with a .712 attack average against Columbia-Green and a .400 attack average against Hudson Valley. Froeming swung .625 against Hudson Valley. Jones served tough with 7 aces against Columbia Green and another 3 against Hudson Valley. Green boasted 5 aces against Columbia Green and finished with a perfect hitting average of 1.0 against Hudson Valley.

In the final match of the day, the Spartans played hard against SUNY Adirondack who is currently ranked as the #2 team in Region 3. The Spartans continue putting up strong blocking and defensive numbers but struggled a bit on offense. As a team, the Lady Spartans put up 12 blocks (9 solo) against ADK. Defensively, Lexi Tucker (Union Springs, NY), Tanasia Green (Syracuse, NY), and Kiana Jones (Port Byron, NY) collectively put up 45 digs.

The Spartans play next at home on Wednesday night against Jefferson Community College at 6 pm and then travel to Onondaga Community College Friday and Saturday for the Cara Bryant Memorial Tournament.
