Cayuga Ends First Half of Season with Loss to Mohawk Valley

The Cayuga Women's Basketball Team closed the first half of its season with a tough loss to Mohawk Valley Community College on Saturday.

After a strong first quarter in which they trailed 21 to 19, the Spartans were unable to keep pace with the Hawks, losing 91-63. The Hawks were able to build a 21-point lead at halftime and held off the Spartans the rest of the way.

Tanyea Jansson led Cayuga with 17 points and eight rebounds. Fatimaah Findley added 13 points and seven rebounds, and Janaye Gables chipped-in with 10 points.

The loss drops Cayuga to 4-5 on the season. Games resume on Jan. 7, when the Spartans travel to Herkimer College for a 6 p.m. game.
