Cayuga Drops First Contest of 2020

A strong effort by the Cayuga Spartans wasn't enough in their first game of 2020, as they lost a 61-42 road contest to the Herkimer College Generals.

Cayuga kept the game close, and was still within eight points halfway through the final quarter. The Spartans, though, were unable to overcome 24 turnovers, and Herkimer pulled away late in the fourth quarter.

First-year forward Gretchen Earl led Cayuga with 15 points and seven rebounds, and Jania Freeman finished with seven points and seven rebounds.

The loss drops the Spartans to 4-6 on the season. They start conference play with a home contest against Corning Community College at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9.
