Cayuga Uses Strong Second Half To Defeat Corning

The Cayuga Spartans used a sharp second half and strong shooting from the field to earn a 15-point victory over Corning Community College on Thursday.

The Spartans led 29-26 at halftime, but pulled away in the final two quarters for a 64-49 win in their first conference contest of the 2019-2020 season. The win pushes the Spartans' record to 5-6 on the season and 1-0 in Mid-State Athletic Conference play.

In what was their best shooting performance of the season, Cayuga made 7 of 15 three-point field goal attempts. Gretchen Earl tallied a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Fatimaah Findley finished with 13 points. Tanyea Jansson grabbed eight rebounds and had four assists to go with 12 points.

The Spartans return to the court with a road game at Jefferson Community College on Tuesday, January 14. Tip-off is 5 p.m.
