Spartans Complete Road Sweep of Timberwolves

Cayuga Community College Baseball picked up two convincing road wins over SUNY Adirondack on Thursday, completing a season sweep of the Timberwolves.
 
Days after earning two one-run home wins against Adirondack, the Spartans won 14-4 and 13-1 on the road. The sweep improves their record to 17-7 on the season and 8-4 in Region III play.
 
The Spartans were in control of the opener from the start, with the first three batters of the game scoring. Mike DeRosa doubled home Kevin Dolan and Jakson Ross, then scored on an Adirondack error. Cayuga added two more in the second on a RBI double by Dolan and a single from Ross before tallying seven runs in the fifth to put the game out of reach. Singles by Luca D'Emilio, Jacob Laird and DeRosa brought in runs in the inning.
 
Antonio Munoz earned the win for Cayuga, throwing five innings, scattering seven hits and striking out five. DeRosa had three hits and four RBI, Laird had three RBI, and Dolan, Ross, Isaac Allison and Dylan Gordon each had two hits. Dolan and Gordon scored three times.
 
In the second game, the Spartans broke open a 1-1 game with 12 runs in the final three innings. An RBI triple by Michael Blowers started the scoring in the fourth, with Blowers later scoring on a single from Gordon. Gordon singled home two more in the fifth, and RBI singles from Alejandro Diaz and Dolan and a sacrifice fly from Emilo Turco helped Cayuga score five in the sixth.
 
Allison threw a complete game, allowing eight hits and striking out five. Gordon had four RBI and scored twice, Blowers and Dolan had two RBI each, and D'Emilio scored three times. Jeremy Recio had three hits, and DeRosa, Diaz and Dolan had two hits.
 
Cayuga is on the road Saturday, April 5, for a 12pm doubleheader at SUNY Broome. They host the Hornets the following day at Falcon Park.
