Spartans Dominate in Road Sweep

Two solid starts and a pair of 10-run outbursts from the lineup gave Cayuga Community College Baseball a road sweep of Fulton-Montgomery Community College on Thursday.
 
The Spartans completed a season sweep of the Raiders, never trailing in wins of 10-3 and 11-1. The wins boosted Cayuga's record to 23-9 on the season and 14-6 in East Division play.
 
In the opener, Cayuga scored in each of the first six innings. Dylan Gordon doubled home Alejandro Diaz in the second inning, then the Spartans plated four in the third on a two-run double by Luca D'Emilio and a two-run homer from Jacob Laird. They scored a single run in the fourth on Jeremy Recio's RBI double, another in the fifth and two more in the sixth.
 
Isaac Allison earned the win for the Spartans, throwing five innings and striking out six while scattering six hits. Recio had three hits and scored twice, Mike DeRosa had two hits and an RBI, and Laird had three RBI and scored twice. D'Emilio scored twice and had two RBI.
 
In the second game, Antonio Munoz held the Raiders' lineup in check while the Spartans capitalized on eight walks to score 11 runs in the first three innings. Recio and Kevin Dolan had two-run singles in the third, and Eathen Yoon also singled in a run in the inning.
 
Munoz threw a complete game, striking out five and allowing four hits. Recio had three RBI, and Diaz, Dolan, and DeRosa each had two RBI. Yoon had two hits and scored twice, and Gordon, Owen Browne and Diaz all scored twice.
 
Cayuga hosts Mid-State Athletic Conference opponent Finger Lakes Community College on Friday, April 18, at Falcon Park. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 4 p.m.
