Cayuga Community College Baseball lost a pair of home contests to Division II Monroe Community College on Wednesday.

A late Spartans comeback fell short in an opening 8-6 loss, then the Tribunes scored the final six runs in an 11-3 Monroe win. The losses leave Cayuga 25-13 on the season.

In the first game, the Spartans fell behind 5-0 in the first inning before responding in the bottom half of the inning with Jeremy Recio's two-run single. They cut into the Tribunes' lead in the fifth on an RBI double from Kevin Dolan, who later scored in the same inning on a single by Jean-Paul Anthony. Trailing 8-4 in the last inning, Cayuga scored twice and put the tying run on-base before the Tribunes picked up the last out.

Alejandro Diaz had two hits and walked twice for the Spartans, and Dolan scored twice. The lineup drew nine walks in the contest. Andrew Seward threw five innings in relief, scattering five hits and striking out four.

In the second game, the Spartans trailed early but scored once in the second on a bases-loaded walk. In the third inning, Luca D'Emilio scored on Dolan's RBI single, with Dolan later scoring on another bases-loaded walk. That cut the Tribunes' lead to 5-3, but the Spartans were unable to score the rest of the game.

D'Emilio, Dolan and Michael Blowers scored runs, with seven different Spartans collecting hits in the game. Cayuga pitchers Dylan Gordon and Jack Stemerman combined for six strikeouts.
