Ashtyn Traugott-Knoll threw a complete game win in the first contest against Jefferson CC on Saturday.
Cayuga Community College Baseball completed a home sweep of Jefferson Community College on Saturday behind complete game victories from Ashtyn Traugott-Knoll and James MacLean.

Traugott-Knoll and MacLean held the Cannoneers to a combined seven hits as the Spartans snapped a four-game losing streak with wins of 8-2 and 11-1. Cayuga improves to 27-13 on the season, 16-8 in the Region III East Division and 13-3 in Mid-State Athletic Conference play.

In the opener, the Spartans took a three-run lead in the first inning behind a bases-loaded walk by Jeremy Recio and a two-run single by Luca D'Emilio. Cayuga's lead grew to seven with a four-run fifth inning, with two runs scoring on a Cannoneers' error and D'Emilio scoring on a force-out.

Seven runs were more than enough for Traugott-Knoll, who held the Cannoneers scoreless through the first five innings and completed the game with seven strikeouts and three hits allowed. D'Emilio had three hits and three RBI, Mike DeRosa had two hits and scored twice, and Jakson Ross scored three times.

In the second game Cayuga's lineup again gave their starting pitcher more than enough run support. The Spartans broke open a 1-1 tie with a seven-run second inning, with RBI hits from Jacob Laird, Kevin Dolan, DeRosa, Recio and Alejandro Diaz. They added three more in the third, with two coming on a Ross single.

Dolan had three hits and scored three runs in the second game, DeRosa and Ross had two RBI, and Recio had two doubles and three RBI. MacLean scattered four hits in the complete game win.

The Spartans conclude their season series with the Cannoneers on the road Sunday, April 27. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
