Spartans Fall to Cougars

Cayuga Community College Men's Basketball dropped a home game to Genesee Community College on Wednesday.

The Spartans held a single-digit lead early in the contest, but the Cougars pulled away late in the first half and in the second frame for a 103-63 final. Cayuga is now 4-10 on the season and 4-8 in Region III.

The game started out as a low-scoring contest, with the Spartans holding a slim lead for much of the first half. But with more than eight minutes left, the Cougars went on a 31-7 run to end the half and led 50-27 at the break. The Cougars continued to pull away in the second half.

Desean Strachan led Cayuga with 18 points and four assists, and Marcus Pasha had a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Tony Borges had 13 points and eight rebounds, and Gerod Jackson had 10 points.

The Spartans are on the road Saturday, Jan. 25, against Onondaga Community College. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
