Cayuga built a 5-3 halftime lead with strong play at the face off and defense. Jaquan Royal (Syracuse, NY) won 7 of 9 faceoffs in the first half including an assist after winning the first face off of the game to put Cayuga in the lead 6 seconds into the game. Mike McLaughlin (Auburn, NY) was able to score two goals on long range shots.
The Spartans were outscored 5-0 in the third period and could not recover in the final period.
Brad Rowe (Watertown, NY) made 12 saves in the cage including a spectacular diving save in the third period after he was out of his goal crease.
