The Spartans who are Nationally Ranked 9th by the NJCAA have had an exceptional start to the season, under Coach Darren Wynne who enters his 4th year in charge of the Spartans.

With the Spartans kicking off, and started off very well. It took only 8 minutes for Cayuga to get on the score sheet with the first goal coming from Freshmen Connor Field (Felixstowe, England) with the assist coming from Chris Davison (Newcastle, England). Field didn't stop the scoring and in the 13th minute added a second with the assist coming from Michael Haskins (Belfast, Ireland). The 3rd goal came in the 15th minute of play, when the Spartans produced some fantastic possession to push the ball wide for a left footed cross coming in from Chris Davison, to the on running Sean Richards (Cardiff, Wales) to volley it left footed in the back of the net, and past the Erie keeper. Connor Field then assisted Chris Davison for his first of the day in the 39th minute of the first half to make it 4-0. Davison struck again in the 41st minute of the 1st half when he headed home from a cross by Sean Richards to make it 5-0 just before the half time whistle.

The second half got underway and Erie came out with some fantastic possession to have the Spartans chasing for a period. The Spartans soaked up the pressure form the Kats and scored their final goal of the day.  With 18 minutes remaining, Freshmen Paul McCormick got the ball about 10 yards away from the halfway line and dribbled 4 Erie players to pass it by the Erie keeper to make it 6-0. The final whistle sounded and moved the Spartans to 9-1 for the season.

Coach Wynne had this to say, "I thought we played very well and kept possession exceptionally well. The whole team played well, and some fantastic finishes. Paul McCormick's individual goal was exceptional, and Sean Richards volley was class. Chris Davison and Connor Field where on par with some exceptional goals and starting to set records for the team. All round great performance by the team, but we play another game next Saturday against Corning, so we need to be ready for that.

The Spartans move to 9-1 for the season and face Corning on the road next week. The next home game for the Spartans will be against TC3 on Wednesday the 15th of October at Emerson Park.
