SPARTANS SINK FINGER LAKES TWICE

SPARTANS SINK FINGER LAKES TWICE

Canandaigua N.Y. - The Cayuga Spartans traveled to their Mid-State Athletic Conference and Region 3 rivals, Finger Lakes Community College. The Cayuga Men who are currently 7 wins with no losses, and nationally ranked 8th by the NJCAA faced tough competition at FLCC.

The Spartans started an unchanged lineup from the previous game against Genesee CC and set the tone early with some fantastic possession. It didn't take long for the Spartans to get on the score sheet, with some good possession coming through the midfield pairing of Sean Wynn (Liverpool, England) and Thomas Rivet (London, England). It was Rivet that put through Freshman forward Chris Davison (Newcastle, England) with a brilliant in between the defense pass for Davison, to round the FLCC keeper to put it into the back of the net for the go ahead goal, to make it 1-0.

The Cayuga Men went 2-0 up when Captain Sean Wynn, slipped Chris Davison through again for the Spartan forward to get his second of the game and to put the game out of reach for the Lakers.

Coach Wynne had this to say after the game, "I thought we played really well against FLCC. They're a good team with some good players. The physicality of the game was right up our alley and we matched them with every challenge and tackle. I felt we worked the ball around very well, and I felt we could have scored more. I'm happy for the lads and to be 8-0 for the season is an amazing feeling. We have to focus on going one game at a time to get to where we need to be".

The Spartans move to 8-0 for the season and face Delhi on Wednesday on the road.
