Class of 2025 graduate Jake Botterill earned another accolade this week for his stellar career at Cayuga Community College when the Mid-State Athletic Conference named him Male Athlete of the Year.

A two-year star for Spartans' Men's Soccer, Botterill left Cayuga as the program's all-time leading goal scorer with 69 goals in two seasons. He twice led NJCAA Division III in goals scored, including 38 in the 2024 season. He was also fourth nationally with 20 assists.

"Congratulations to Jake on receiving this award. We wish him all the best as he moves on and continues his academic and athletic pursuits," said Cayuga Coach Chris Davison.

Botterill was a leader on one of the best teams in program history in 2024. The Spartans started the season unranked but climbed to the #2 spot in the rankings by the season's end, defeating four top-10 teams and finishing the regular season undefeated.

They reached the North A District Finals before losing to eventual national champion Mohawk Valley Community College, ending the year with a 15-1 mark. That record, combined with the undefeated regular season, were the best in program history.

Along with the conference award, Botterill was a first-team All-American and was named MSAC and Region III Player of the Year. He is transferring to LSU-Shreveport to continue his academic and athletic career.
