Cayuga Community College Women's Basketball earned a hard-fought road win over Roberts Wesleyan University's JV team on Monday.
The Spartans broke a halftime tie with strong third and fourth quarters to secure a 52-42 win over the Red Hawks. This is the second time the teams played this season, with each team coming away with a win.
Cayuga Coach Jim Alberici said the win marked another strong defensive performance from his team, which has allowed fewer than 50 points in two straight games.
"It's always great to get a road win, especially over a team that beat us earlier this season. We've put together some good performances over the past few games. That's exciting to see heading into December and the next part of our schedule," he said.
The Spartans built a six-point lead in the first quarter, but the Red Hawks responded and tied the game at 24 at the break. Cayuga rebuilt the lead in the third quarter, then relied on forward Xavia Evener in the fourth quarter. Evener scored 12 points in the frame to help Cayuga earn the win.
Evener finished with 18 points and six rebounds, while Haley Mosch led Cayuga with 23 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Lexi Alberici had six points, seven assists and three steals, and Sierra Murray had nine rebounds.
Cayuga's next game is home on Tuesday, Dec. 3, against Monroe Community College. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
