Cayuga Community College Women's Basketball will face a familiar opponent in the opening round of the Region III playoffs on Tuesday.

The Spartans (10-14) travel to Corning Community College (10-11) on Tuesday to face the Red Barons in the sub-regional round of the playoffs, with the winner advancing to face top-seeded Onondaga Community College on Friday. Tuesday's game starts at 6:30 p.m.

Cayuga and Corning, who are also Mid-State Athletic Conference foes, split the season series in 2024-25. Corning took a 32-point win in the first contest in November, and Cayuga responded with a 22-point win just a week ago at Spartan Hall.

The Spartans have been led primarily by their defense this season, allowing less than 55 points per game. On the offensive end, sophomore guard/forward Haley Mosch is one of the top scorers in Region III. Mosch finished second in the region with 19 points per game, and was fourth with 11 rebounds per game.

Sophomores Xavia Evener and Lexi Alberici helped pace Cayuga's offense, with Evener averaging 13 points and 10.5 rebounds, good for sixth in the region. Alberici averaged 11 points and five assists, the latter total the best in the region.

The Red Barons are led on offense by TaylorRae Jones, whose 14 points and eight rebounds per game were the best on the team. Cherish Maglio and Taylor Evans combined to average 20 points per game for Corning this season.
