#2 FLCC Too Tough for Lady Spartans

The #2 nationally ranked Lady Lakers posted a 12-nil shutout over the Lady Spartans this afternoon in a bright, cool, windy day.

The Lakers received goals from eight different players – led by a pair of Cayli Carmona and Hannah Dalle hat tricks. In addition to her trio of goals, Carmona also contributed three assists

The Lady Lakers other 6 goals came from a slew of players. Supplying one goal each in the win for FLCC were Sonia Gucciardo, Rebecca Giacapuzzi, Paige Smith, Lauren Maynard, Danielle VonHahmann, and Rachel Hefner. Gucciardo and Maynard each tacked on one assist apiece to go along with their markers.

Natasha Hyland and Kelly Broderick added to Finger Lakes offense by registering one assist apiece.

Overall, the Lady Lakers outshot Cayuga – 31-4 – in the conference contest. Credit Kristy Kirkpatrick as the game-winning goalie. The sophomore turned in 4 saves in 90 minutes worth of action on Friday.

"Finger Lakes is without a doubt the strongest team we faced today.  Compounding matters was the key loss of the nation's leader in saves, Bre Becker, who went down with a knee injury 10 minutes into the second half.  It is now our objective to continue to work on our game as we close out the year, in preparation for the 2013 season," said Coach Renaud.   With the loss, the Lady Spartans dropped to 1-13 on the season. They will play next on Tuesday (10/16) when they are slated to take on Niagara County CC on the road.
