Spartans Close out 2014 at Jefferson

This past weekend the Lady Spartans finished the 2014 season at Jefferson Community College where they faced Niagara, Jamestown, and Erie Community Colleges. They dropped the first two matches to Niagara and Jamestown but were able to end on a high by defeating Eris in 4 sets. The Lady Spartans will finish the season 13-23, the best the program has seen since it was reintroduced in 2010.

Notable athletes from the weekend include Lexi Tucker (Union Springs, NY), Nyasha Terry (Brooklyn, NY), Monique Chambers (Brooklyn, NY), Jadda Phillips (Syracuse, NY), and Tanasia Green (Syracuse, NY). Tucker finished her career as a Spartan by posting another 47 digs bringing her final total to 601 total digs.  She will finish with a regular season total of 601 digs which seats her as #1 in the Region and also at the top of national rankings. Terry 7 solo blocks, 4 block assists, and 12 kills. Chambers shined in the final match of the day with a hitting average of .500, her best of the season. Phillips had 51 assists, 4 aces, and 3 kills. Like Chambers, Green was also a major impact player against Erie. She had 3 kills that all came at pivotal moments during the match (.333 average) and 3 aces.

The Spartans are very proud of the progress the program has made over the course of the season and anticipate another strong season in 2015.
