Hero Ouro-Sama Saves Cayuga in PK's
Plattsburgh, NY. - Cayuga Men's Soccer Team took a lengthy bus trip north to Plattsburgh to face their Region 3 counterparts, Clinton Community College at Plattsburgh High School.

The Spartans kicked off the game in the usual Spartan way, and had some early chances through some really nice play and build up in the middle third of the field. The first half was an uneventful 45 minutes and the score remained 0-0.
With the second half underway, the Spartans pressured well and put the Clinton Men under duress to search for the opening goal. Matthew Harty-Spencer (Sunderland, England) and Diogo Paiva (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) came to closest to scoring on multiple occasions, but couldn't distant themselves from the Clinton team on the score sheet. Cayuga Men's Soccer team finished the 90 minutes with 9 shots to send the game into overtime.
With two periods of overtime to go and golden goal looming, both Clinton and Cayuga battled hard for the extra 20 minutes with no outcome and headed straight into PK's.
Cayuga won the coin toss and opted for Clinton to kick first for an exciting conclusion to the 110 minute contest. Clinton stepped up to start the dramatic ending to a great game...but Cayuga's Midfielder/Goalkeeper Mohammed Ouro-Sama (Manhattan, New York), made a great save to keep Clinton off the score sheet. Up stepped Captain and Sophomore Jason Boxx (London, England) to take the first PK for Cayuga and placed well past the Clinton keeper to put Cayuga 1-0. Clinton stepped up to take their PK, and were no match for the Ouro-Sama who made a fantastic save to his left corner to deny Clinton the goal. Sean Wynn (Liverpool, England) ran up to take his and placed it to the keepers left for Cayuga to go 2-0 up. Clinton stepped up again but missed the goal altogether and placed it wide of the target. Matthew Harty-Spencer placed his but the keeper was as equal to the task to save his PK, diving to his right. Clinton CC then had their 4th PK saved by Cayuga's hero of the game, Mohammed Ouro-Sama to win it for Cayuga.
Coach Wynne said, "I thought we dominated most of the game and we were very unlucky not to score, but it was a great battle from both sides", "My hat is off to Mo (Mohammed) for doing so well, considering he's our central midfielder and not our starting keeper". He deserves the Man of the Match award for today's game in my eyes. With that being said, we shouldn't have let it get to PK's and finish teams off within the 90 minutes. Now we go rest up and do this all again, tomorrow.
Cayuga stays overnight and will face North Country CC tomorrow on the road at 3pm.
