Cayuga Community College Men's Soccer remained undefeated after defeating Lackawanna College in a hard-fought contest Tuesday at Falcon Park.
The Spartans captured the 2-1 victory behind a late second period goal from Raffaele Mathews and a determined defense that stonewalled several late scoring attempts from the Falcons. Cayuga improves to 3-0 on the season with the win.
Cayuga claimed an early lead on a goal from Jacob Botterill in the first period, but the Falcons knotted the match at a goal apiece before the break. The match stayed tied deep into the second period before Mathews' goal.
Along with the goals for Botterill and Mathews, Alex Maciariello and Chris Tielrooij finished with assists.
The Spartans return to Mid-State Athletic Conference and Region III competition with a road match Friday at Jefferson Community College. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
