Spartans’ Season Ends in Semifinals

The Cayuga Community College Men's Soccer season ended in a postseason loss to Herkimer College in the NJCAA North B District Regionals on Wednesday.

The #6 Spartans fell behind early to the #3 Generals, losing the away match 6-0. Cayuga reached the semifinals following a 6-1 quarterfinal win Sunday against Hudson Valley Community College.

Herkimer scored the opening goal less than a minute into the contest, and made it 2-0 minutes later. The Spartans played the Generals even for much of the remainder of the first half, with the Generals scoring a third goal with less than 15 minutes remaining.

Cayuga was unable to break through Herkimer's defense in the second half, while the Generals scored three more goals to stay in control of the match.

Cayuga ends the season 11-4-1, with a 10-4-1 mark in Region III competition. Herkimer advances to the North B Region III finals against Genesee Community College.
