Four Spartans Earn MSAC Honors

Student-athletes on both Cayuga Community College basketball teams were recognized for strong seasons by the Mid-State Athletic Conference last week.

Forward Tony Borges from the Men's Basketball team and Haley Mosch, Lamontiona Johnson and Avrey Colton from the Women's Basketball team were named to the MSAC All-Conference teams for the 2023-24 season.

Borges was named to the MSAC 2nd Team after finishing as the Spartans' top scorer and rebounder. The freshman averaged close to a double-double with 15 points and just under 10 rebounds per contest, and was also among the team leaders with two assists per game.

Mosch, Johnson and Colton led the Spartans to a third-place finish in the conference this season. Mosch, a freshman, was named MSAC 2nd Team after a season in which she was the team's top scorer and rebounder with almost 14 points and eight rebounds per game.

Johnson, another freshman for the Spartans, was named to MSAC's 3rd Team. She averaged 10 points and seven rebounds per game while keying Cayuga's zone defense this season.

One of two sophomores on the Spartans, Colton earned MSAC Honorable Mention after scoring close to 10 points per contest. She also averaged more than six rebounds and a team-high four assists per game.

Cayuga Women's Basketball's season continues on Friday, March 1, in the Region III Tournament. The 8th-seeded Spartans travel to Watertown to face the top seed, Jefferson Community College.
