Spartans Lose Heartbreaker to Lazers

The Lazers scored first in overtime to lead the OCC women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Cayuga CC on Wednesday night.

After a scoreless first half, which saw the Spartans register a 7-6 advantage in shots, Onondaga's goalkeeper Alic Fuada made a few terrific saves.   OCC increased its offensive pressure in the opening of the second stanza. The Lazers recorded sixteen shots in the second half, forcing freshman goalkeeper Kiera Browne to make several amazing saves.  Browne had a fantastic game in goal coming up with some big saves and punting the Spartans out of danger.

Early on into the first overtime period, OCC scored off a cross that rolled inside the 18.  For the first time in the match Browne was unable to get a hand on the ball.

Browne finished the contest with 20 saves between the pipes.  Fuada turned away four shots in the win for OCC. OCC registered a 22-8 edge in shots, while also taking eleven corner kicks.

Spartans will take on Fulton-Montgomery on Saturday, September 24th at 1:00pm at Emerson Field.
