Cayuga Women Struggle on the Road

Cayuga Women Struggle on the Road

Cayuga started sluggishly and gave up its third loss of the season to host Broome.  Broome came out with a speedy and aggressive attack and netted their first goal within the first 10 minutes of the game. Cayuga was able to hold off Broome to a halftime score of 1-0 after some strong defensive and middle field play from Brooke Laukaitis (Auburn, NY), Kaitlyn Coningsby (Moravia, NY) and Tiffany Westmiller (Throop, NY). Broome went down to 10 players after getting a red card, but that wasn't able to slow their attack down. Broome was able to add 3 more goals to a final score line of 4 to 0.

After the match Coach Robillard had this to say, "We started poorly and didn't have our feet all day. Broome was quick and took advantage of our mistakes. They were a very physical team and we weren't able to adjust to their style of play. I was happy with Brooke Laukaitis and Martha Caster (Fulton, NY) who were very aggressive and helped produce some of our offensive chances."

Goalkeeper Bre Becker (Lusby, MD) recorded 20 saves for the Spartans.

Cayuga heads to Jamestown Community College on Friday for a Region III West matchup against the Jaguars.
