Cayuga Plays Post-Season Game with Style and Heart

Cayuga end their winning season with a heartbreaking 3 to 1 playoff loss to Jefferson. The Lady Cannoneers were able to take advantage of a sluggish Cayuga start with 2 first half goals. The Lady Spartan where able to improve their play with a hard fought, gritty game that rivaled any match of the season. The Lady Spartans produced chances and played a much different and more aggressive game in half number two. Cayuga was able to get on the scoreboard with a great individual effort from Madison Robillard (Fulton, NY) with a great dribble into the box and a screwball shot over the goalie. A few minutes later Cayuga had a great chance to tie it when Madison Robillard passed a ball across the front of the goal and it was shot by Libby Henry (Clyde, NY)…but was deflected by a Jefferson defender. Jefferson was able to add a late insurance goal as Cayuga pushed number forwards towards the end of the game. Bre Becker (Lusby, MD) had another solid performance in the goal for Cayuga with 12 saves.

After the game a excited Coach Robillard had this to say, "The ladies fought hard and I am very proud of them. We stood very strong and played comparable to a very good Jefferson team, in which if the ball bounces just a different way today we would be bringing home the win. That's soccer.  It was an amazing season and this was a great game to end it off on. The ladies have played inspired soccer this year and I will never forget their effort and this season."
