Lady Spartans Played Strong on the Road

Cayuga women's soccer played very strong but were unable to keep Genesee Community College off the score board in a 5-2 lose Wednesday on the road.

Cayuga started the game a bit sluggish and played most of the half defensively to a very aggressive Genesee attack.  Cayuga held tough for 15 minutes when Genesee scored their first goal. The Lady Cougars added two more in the half to put the Lady Spartans at a 3-nill deficit

The Lady Spartans started the second half in blazing fashion scoring 2 goals in the first 10 minutes. Freshman leading scoring Michaela Breeze (Auburn, NY) was able to pick up a ball in the midfield and beat 3 Genesee players to toe poke a neatly tucked ball passing an on rushing Cougar goalkeeper. Five minutes later Breeze again pick up another takeaway from Genesee and dribble passed the Cougar defense to bury a lovely shot into the top of the goal.

Coach Robillard had this to say after the game, "We are playing much better and I am proud of the girls for not giving up on the pitch. We got some amazing performances from some key players to make this a closer game then the score line suggest. Midfielders Jenna Alberici (Auburn, NY) and Emily Crosby (Auburn, NY) played very well. Defensively we had strong games from Destinee Frink (Auburn, NY) and Malarie Nelson (Seneca Falls, NY)."

Cayuga was unable to find the equalizer and Genesee capitalized on a penalty kick and a giveaway in Cayuga's half to add two more goals.

Goalkeepers Cheyenne Rivenburg (Little Falls, NY) had 25 saves
